it’s the time to evaluate my envy 

and shed a tear or two

will my luck run thin this year?

or with the literature I consume

and history I write

consume my mind?

 

it’s always been my greatest fear,

this failing feeling of failure

When I pick up the pencil,

am I a burden to you,  or me?

 

A  week of constant regret and struggle

can only become worthwhile

if the things I craft hold weight

and the imagination I sate

is left to be buried underground
