Gods
Why do we worship Gods?
For the mouse does not worship the cat,
Nor does the zebra love the lion.
Despite our absolute lack of power,
in comparison to the divine,
we do not react like species of the Earth should.
Rather, we worship, we pray, and we glorify.
The very beings that are complicit in
the abuse of existence
and the burden of intelligence…
Do they not grasp our souls at death?
and claim us as our own
as though humanity had no worth in the first place?
Perhaps,
humanity should preserve their terror for the realization
that they must simply mirror prey,
left to be toyed with in the hands of the divine.
